Genocidal Center
The
Choeung Ek Genocidal Center is one of those places in Phnom Penh, where people dread to travel but still visit because of it’s
fame of being the site for mass killing of the Khmer-Rogue during 1975 to 1979.
Over a million people were executed at this site and the dead remains of
approximately 8,895 people were found post the fall of the Khmer-Rogue reign.
What can you

Ø A full fledged
audio tour in several languages takes you through the historical background and
fills you in with all the details of the tragic incident of mass killing during
the Khmer-Rogue rule.
Ø This erstwhile
killing field has a glass walled memorial stupa filled with skulls of the dead
who had undergone mass killing. The skulls have been arranged according to sex
and age. This place is now a place of tranquil silence.
Ø The site is
well posted and marked in English for the convenience of every tourist.

Situated
at around 17kms away from Phnom
Penh, Cambodia, Choeung Ek Genocidal Center can be approached through shuttle
bus tour, which helps tourists to reach and explore Choeung Ek Genocidal Center.
The shuttle busses are available with Phnom Penh Hop On Hop Off.

Choeung Ek Genocidal Center can be pre booked though the travel agents or the
hotel and the Centre is open from 7.30am to 5.30pm every day except Thursdays.
Tour charges:
The
admission charges to the Choeung Ek Genocidal Center are US$6 per head
inclusive of the audio tour.
