Silver pagoda

The pristine and tranquil Silver Pagoda is situated on the south side of the Royal Palace also known as Wat Preah Keo because of the rare Emerald-Crystal Buddha seated in the grand hall. This grand Pagoda is a very prominent structure of Phnom Penh garnering several tourists after the Angkor Wat.

What can you find there?
Ø  Several statues and figurine of Buddha in precious metals like gold and silver.
Ø  A life-size Maitreya Buddha is adorned with approximately 9584 diamonds of various shapes and sizes, which was crafted in the Palace workshop between  1906 to 1907. The largest diamond weighing around 25 carats.
Ø  The silver pagoda, as the name suggests has close to 5000 silver tiles laid in to it. The exterior façade has only a few to showcase to the visitors.
Ø  The grounds of the Pagoda are used for various religious ceremonies
Ø  The remains of Norodom Sihanouk have been preserved in one of the shrines in the temple.
Ø  Several artefacts and things worth heritage value are on display
Ø  The precious emerald crystal Buddha is encased and displayed in a tiny little box.

How to get to Silver pagoda
The Silver pagoda is centrally located within Phnom Penh, thus making it viable for all modes of transport to help the tourist reach. Ranging from Tuk-Tuks, cabs and busses all ply towards the Royal Palace.

Working hours:
Sunday to Saturday, 8.00am to 11.00am and 2.00pm to 5.00pm

Entry Fees : US$6.5 per head and US$10 for two guides
