Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre

The Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre is neatly situated approximately 40kms from Phnom Penh. This is the largest zoo in Cambodia established in 1995 with close to 6000 acres of rich greenery and abundant flora and fauna to boast about.

What can you find there?
Ø  There are close 1,200 animals from 102 species out of which many are endangered.
Ø  It has several rescued animals from various parts of Cambodia
Ø  Elephants, Bears(Malayan Bears, Moon Bears), snakes, Deer, exotic birds, Monkeys, Tigers and many more animals are found in abundance in this green patch.
Ø  The animals are as if in their natural habitats, thus found in their best condition.
Ø  The sun bear enclosure is run by the NGO, Free the Bear

How to get to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre
There are cabs and Tuk-Tuks traversing this stretch charging US$35 and US$25 respectively it is approximately 40kms from Phonm penh via the National road 2.

Ø  You can be a Bear keeper for a day at a charge of US$70
Ø  Behind the scene access to the Tiger and elephant enclosure at a charge of US$33
