Phnom
Chisor Temple is perched atop the high hill in Sla Village. This 11th
century temple was built with bricks and laterite and havs some wonderful
sculptures and carvings in sandstone lintels. This temple is dedicated to Shiva
and Vishnu and was built by one of the Khmer rulers, King Suryavarman, who used
to practise the philosophy of Brahmanism.

Ø The Phnom
Chisor Temple is a confluence of two religions, Brahmanism and Buddhism.
Ø A nice climb
along the 503 odd stairs leads you to the peak of the hill, where the temple is
nestled.
Ø The bird’s eye
view from Phnom Chisor Temple overlooking the rice fields is worth the hectic
climb, especially during the monsoons.
Ø An overall view
of the several ruins of the Khmer dynasty
Ø This little
known temple is a treasure for the history lovers. People spend hours wondering
at this 11th century architecture and carvings made on comparatively
brittle substances.
How to get to
Phnom Chisor Temple
Travel
southwards from Phnom Penh to Takeo province by road and then climb up the
Chisor hill.
